Partial collection of muster rolls (1846-1848), chiefly of officers, for the Battalion of Mounted Riflemen, commanded by John C. Frémont during the Mexican War. Includes transcriptions of communications to and from the Battalion, apparently copied by the Battalion clerk in the blank pages of the muster roll. Includes transcriptions of appointments of commission of officers, as well as the appointment of Frémont as military commandant of California by territorial governor Robert F. Stockton.
